St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance would like to thank our new friends at Move For Hunger (Adam Lowy) and Desert Sun Moving (David Silliman) and more than 18,000 Arizona State University students for taking part in last night’s fourth annual ASU Undie Run.
Celebrating the end of the spring semester, ASU students stripped off their clothes – donating more than 5,000 pounds of clothes to Arizona Helping Hands, Standup for Kids, Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS) and Andre’ House. And the student also brought food donations from their dorm rooms that they will be cleaning out this week and donated 3,000 pounds of canned goods, ramen, soda, fruits and pastas to the Food Bank.
A good time was had by all. Definitely.
Lowy’s Move for Hunger, who was instrumental in the Food Bank receiving a $10,000 grant from Ford Motor Company in April, have now donated enough food and funds to allow St. Mary’s to distribute 73,000 meals in just the last three weeks. Today’s 3,000 pound donation was delivered to St. Mary’s Del E. Webb Distribution Center in a Desert Sun Moving truck. Desert Sun is the only Arizona moving company currently taking part in the Move For Hunger program – collecting food from their clients who are moving and donating it to the Food Bank.
To Adam, David and all the Sun Devils who donated the food off their table and the shirts off their backs … thank you, and party on.
